L.O., (The Swedish Trade Union Confederation) – is the umbrella organization for more than a dozen ‘blue-collar’ trade unions. Membership: 1.8 million. Founded in 1898 by Social Democratic party members, it has retained a strong link to the party. L.O. own 50.1 percent of evening paper Aftonbladet.
